Is your IT team ready to kickoff a 9+ month project to build the integration? Probably not.
The annoying part... You already integrated with your 3PL and a lot of the same data is required for a SPM solution.

Let's assume those first two concerns don't apply to you. Now it is time to ink a contract with your preferred vendor. Legacy vendors want to lock you in to a 3 year contract. That is a good idea (for them!), since it will take you a year to implement.
What happens if you don't get all the value you were promised in the business case developed to justify the investment? Not the vendor's problem, the annual fee for year 2 (and 3) is coming no matter what. Termination for convenience? You will pay a premium on the premium for that privilege. That is not a "partnership,", more like a hostage situation!
